Metformin Cancer Lawsuits and NDMA

There are many ways to file a claim for compensation resulting from Metformin use, including through a class action lawsuit. If you have suffered from a cancer diagnosis, you may be entitled to financial compensation for any lost wages, as well as for the pain and suffering you’ve experienced. While cancer treatment is incredibly effective, it’s not without risk. A cancer diagnosis can leave you with the substantial emotional anguish and physical pain, and a Metformin cancer attorney can help you pursue this compensation.

NDMA is a cancer-causing agent

NDMA is a chemical that breaks down when exposed to sunlight, which is why NDMA is a common suspect in Metformin cancer lawsuits. NDMA is a Group 2A carcinogen, meaning that it is likely to cause cancer in humans but is not yet sufficiently proven. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued warnings about the chemical’s contamination, and manufacturers have been forced to recall certain lots of their products. Other drugs contaminated by NDMA include valsartan (also recalled), Zantac, and metformin.

It is a volatile substance

A new study warns that metformin may cause cancer. This drug controls blood sugar levels and is often prescribed for patients with type 2 diabetes. If you have been taking metformin, you may be concerned about NDMA, a chemical found in food and medicines. The drug company, Nostrum Laboratories, voluntarily recalled Metformin HCl Extended-Release Tablets, USP 750 mg because of the potential risk.

It is a carcinogen

It’s no secret that the FDA is investigating the diabetes drug metformin, due to a carcinogen that’s linked to the recent recall of the blood pressure drug Zantac. But what exactly is this chemical and how does it make the drug a carcinogen? In May of this year, the FDA announced that some metformin products sold overseas had been contaminated with low levels of N-Nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA), a potentially cancer-causing chemical. This impurity was found in some metformin products in Singapore. The FDA did not take any action at the time but is now asking companies to test for the impurity, which is also known as N, N-dimethylamine (NDMA).

It is found in metformin

Since its introduction to the pharmaceutical market, metformin has helped millions of people suffering from Type 2 diabetes control their blood sugar levels. It also addresses many symptoms of the disease. But research suggests that this drug contains high levels of a carcinogen. This drug may also cause various forms of cancer. If you or a loved one suffered from any of these side effects after taking metformin, you may have a case for restitution.

It is found in Zantac

When did the FDA start to worry about the NDMA contamination of metformin? It came to light last December as several drugs were recalled for high levels of this suspected carcinogen. The ingredient, NDMA, is known to cause cancer in animals and humans. In January 2019, the FDA recalled the over-the-counter drug Zantac because of this concern. However, the drug has not been recalled in the US. The FDA did, however, take the drug off the market until the manufacturers could prove its safety.

It is found in ER metformin

Despite its popularity as a diabetes medication, there have been multiple recalls of metformin, including a recent one in Canada, and it has been linked to cancer. In Canada, certain lots of the drug were recalled, while Ranbaxy Pharmaceuticals and Apotex voluntarily recalled six lots. Investigations are ongoing to see if metformin sold outside of Canada contains NDMA.

It is found in over-the-counter Zantac

Over-the-counter Zantac contains the drug Metformin, which is linked to several different health problems, including cancer. The Food and Drug Administration has ordered the recall of several different types of heartburn medication after tests found elevated levels of a contaminant linked to cancer. The contaminant, called N-Nitrosodimethylamine, was first found in heartburn drugs last year, including the popular over-the-counter drug Zantac.
