One of the lawsuits filed against the manufacturers of zostavax is brought on behalf of the wife of a patient who died from complications from the shingles virus. According to the lawsuit, her husband was diagnosed with MCL – Multiple Sclerosis. She had received the shingles vaccine several years before his diagnosis and was experiencing no problems with it before he died. However, after he died, she started experiencing back pain, severe headaches, blurred vision, muscle pain, and other problems associated with the nervous system.

A second shingles vaccine class action lawsuit is brought on behalf of an anonymous woman who was diagnosed with chickenpox before she went through menopause. According to the lawsuit, she began experiencing symptoms similar to those that she had experienced prior to going through menopause. This included extreme fatigue, fever, and muscle and joint aches. Because the chickenpox symptoms were so similar to those she had experienced prior to menopause, her doctors diagnosed her with having menopause and caused her to receive a full dosage of the chickenpox vaccine in addition to the menopause treatment she had been undergoing.

A third shingles vaccine class action lawsuit is brought on behalf of a boy who was diagnosed with encephalopathy. According to the lawsuit, he was experiencing vomiting, diarrhea, decreased appetite, and other symptoms that were consistent with encephalopathy. He had previously been diagnosed with MCL, or multiple sclerosis, and was taking the zostavax trial. Prior, to his diagnosis he had also received a placebo as part of the menopause treatment regimen.

The final shingles vaccine class action lawsuit is brought on behalf of a child who suffered from a condition called meningoencephalopathy. Meningoencephalopathy is a condition that causes a permanent vision loss, which is caused by a brain virus. The disease strikes children between the ages of two and fourteen. As a result of this condition, the child cannot now enjoy the same level of education that he would have enjoyed if he had not fallen victim to the shingles vaccine.
